Many years ago, during a trip to New York fashion week, I stumbled upon a cute little boutique in Soho, the name of which whispered promises of bohemian delights that a jaded Fashion Director needed right there and then. It didn’t disappoint and there-on after in NYC, Miami and LA, Free People became my go-to for beautiful, off piste finds. Now with a website live in the UK, and a pop up store in the Kings Road until next Spring, the brand has gone from strength to strength with a massive following on social platforms and with, quite frankly, the best offerings for a bohemian soul out there.
Then, one fine day in Autumn I found myself hosting the FP team at Lilac Cottage. A dream come true, I was able to play with new season product and see my beloved home immortalised on their blog. Yes I am mostly hiding under hair or hats BUT I’m wearing a few of my favourite things. Enough said.
Love is…this jacket, it’s as simple as that. It reminds me of the illustrations in childhood fairy tales and looks so good with jeans you’ll wonder why it didn’t find it’s way into your life earlier. People WILL stop you in the street to ask where it’s from. Well, I would if I didn’t know.
Remember the hunk of a knit I waxed lyrical about in a former post? Well, I got to test drive it, layered over a slither of a khaki floor-sweeping dress. It felt good. Really good.

This woolly coat is THE winter warmer. The blonde must have that will be as great over beaded, bohemian layers as it is with a pair of jeans or cord flares. It was love at first feel.

Got ink. My tattoo, inspired by a watercolour by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and from this book. I still love it 8 years on.
I love Lilac Cottage, my home of three and half years, but, never did I imagine that it would feature in such a prominent way on the Free People blog.Yes it’s a dream come true and yes, I’m one lucky bohemian.
Feel like popping online for an FP browse? Check out these beauties to tempt you further, thankfully photographed on a beautiful model, somewhere hot and sultry. I’m freezing my credit card. NOW.
Be still my beating heart. Eastern Star dress, coming soon
