THE STYLISH STUFF: FRIDAY I’M IN LOVE

The new season advertising campaigns can mean only one thing – it’s time to put the credit card in a water filled receptacle and place it in the freezer. Sounds drastic? Well, this Spring it really is. With so many iconic advertising images staring out at us from the glossies and websites, it’s going to be very hard to resist temptation.  Today’s post highlights a handful of campaigns that have made me want to shop NOW, made me rethink my wardrobe and that may well inspire future shoots. Yes I could be a convert to the joys of a luxurious, printed silk Equipment shirt and yes, a Breton top could FINALLY find its way into my wardrobe and as for that Chloe rainbow print, chiffon top – It WILL be mine. The power of the visual image has been my career passion and getting lost in other people’s work is part of that journey. Get poised to lose your credit card…

There is SO much to love about this latest campaign for SS16 from Equipment. It’s beautifully honest, natural and a narrative of two friends and mutual muses spending a creative and collaborative week on a private island in Mustique. (Yes, I know, it must have been hellish.)  With Werbowy behind the lens the spotlight is on Kate Moss and even in this free and informal setting, the beauty of the prints and luxury fabrics sing out enough to have a non-shirt wearing individual like me signing up to the wait list for the leopard print beauty below. I know. Seduced. Utterly. Go to http://www.equipmentfr.com

With the arrival of Shailina Parti as Buying and Merchandising Director at Jigsaw, a fresh wind of change has reshaped the brand. Nowadays you’ll find thoroughly contemporary tailoring, exquisite prints and a hitherto absent sense of luxury and modernism in the offering. For Spring summer the collection was shot in New York and the beauty of the images reflects just how well these clothes work in an urban environment. It’s clean and simple and there are no airs and graces in the styling, but, I want to be that girl. Effortlessly stylish whether in a wide striped breton top, a cleanly cut navy coat or worked-out denim jeans and suede top. Go to;  http://www.jigsaw-online.com

Featuring the fresh new faces of Céline Bouly and Ari Wesphal alongside Antonina Petkovik and Ilvie Wittek, the new Chloe campaign is literally the stuff bohemian dreams are made of. The catwalk show was of course a giveaway that spending money might be on the cards, but sometimes ad campaigns when realised, are so high brow and inaccessible they turn you off the clothes. As fluid and rich in tone as the clothes themselves, the campaign gives a gentle nod to the romance of the 70s and the spirit of the Gypsetter. It’s upbeat and carefree and again embodies that naturalness that is so key to the new season. Love at first sight. Go to http://www.chloe.com

Another campaign to piqué my interest this season is from Karen Millen. Featuring, Author / Style Icon Caroline de Maigret and the always compelling Model / Actress Angela Lindvall, it’s clean, modern and presents a carefully curated collection of the season’s highlights. The chic environment and perfectly simple styling from Cathy Kasterine reflect the detail in the clothes. It’s cool, achingly cool.  Go to  http://www.karenmillen.com

It’s probably no surprise that Free People feature in this run of images, after all I’m a confirmed lover of the Bohemian aesthetic and a looser, more fluid vibe in my own attire, however, it’s more that that. This season I love the freer feel of imagery in general, from the Chloe images above to the backlit hedonism shown here in the LA desert.  I love the clothes but also ADORE the idea of a drop-top, a cowboy and a road trip. The movie Thelma & Louise was the starting point for the brand and if you look on the website and indeed WATCH the film, you’ll understand where this season could take you.  It’s about spirit and adventure and it will certainly have me hitting that credit card with a hammer to release it from the ice.  Go to;  http://www.freepeople.com/uk/january-2016-collection/
