THE STYLISH STUFF: IT’S THE SIMPLE THINGS

A waterfall of ruffles, a wide leg pant, a simple ‘A’ line dress and the joy of a refreshingly ‘new’ white shirt. Yes, this week The Stylish Stuff finds joy in clean lines, modern cuts and clothes that will last the distance. I’ve been indulgent and am here celebrating some brands that I love; the newly launched Jigsaw A-Line collection – investment dressing for the discerning; H&M Conscious Exclusive – up-cycled, sustainable clothing that I just adore. Dagmar, who cut dresses to reinvent your going-out criteria and Filippa K whose clothes can take you just about anywhere, chicly of course. Spring really is in the air.

The Dagmar Siffon dress – a poetic piece of ruffled gorgeousness. A sleek ankle boot, a trainer (if you should be so bold) or a cool pair of heels will serve you well with this beauty, oh and a mannish blazer thrown over the top to tackle the chill. Welcome to your new lbd, but in off white. Dress £249, Dagmar.

This thoroughly modern pea coat is reversible – one side a bold scarlet, the other (as shown) a more sultry navy. It feels heavy and substantial and falls over clothes in the most fabulously flattering way. A beautifully crafted coat that will serve you from the chill days of spring well into winter. Clementine Italian bonded pea coat £595, worn over an oversized white shirt with sheer panel and contrast trim detailing. It’s a sultry little number worn alone. Zion silk mix oversized tux shirt £225,  both Jigsaw A-Line, Ayda white trainers £98, Jigsaw, rings from a selection by Laura Gravestock

IF Bianca Jagger was getting married now, THIS is what she’d choose. Achingly fluid, a luxe tux in clotted cream begs a party at the Chateau Marmont in LA, as the sun goes down and the cocktails flow. Equally, the jacket teamed with a crisp white shirt, sleek cropped black trousers and heels, is a thoroughly modern workwear must. Avelien Italian DF slouch tux jacket £550, matching tie back satin crepe trousers £195, both Jigsaw A-Line. #comingsoon Double necklace £208, Laura Lee, The Shop at Bluebird. http://www.theshopatbluebird.com Rings, Laura Gravestock, as before.

Jumping for joy. White shirts with peplum details, striped pants that actually flatter. Well, I’d say that was something to celebrate.

Crisp white shirt with empire line and kick sleeve detailing £295, Victoria by Victoria Beckham at The Shop at Bluebird. Arlo stripe culotte £295, Jigsaw A-Line, Isla tube gladiator sandal £129, Jigsaw, cuff £230 Maria Nilsdotter  http://www.marianilsdotter.com

In my humble opinion, you can’t go far wrong with a t-shirt dress. Firstly there’s the comfort, secondly it’s just SO easy to get dressed in the morning and finally, you find a delcious monochrome recipe and stick with it. Just add a boxy, cream cropped jacket et voila! With heels, with trainers, with sandals – whatever you choose, THIS is chic simplicity.  Crepe t-shirt dress £150, Abby Jacket in cream £280, both Filippa K http://: http://www.filippa-k.com/en/woman/jackets/abbey-jacket-1 trainers as before.

Mysterious, why the hell not. Black felt trilby £12.99 H&M http://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0375807001.html  Rings, Laura Gravestock, cuff, Maria Nilsdotter, as before.

All for one …and one for all. It’s the jumpsuit that wants to be dungarees but that’s way too cool and chic to be invited to that particular party. Cosmo stretch double crepe jumpsuit £395, shown with sandals as before, Jigsaw A -Line. http://www.jigsaw-online.com/category/womens/clothing_limited-edition-a-line #comingsoon

It’s a slip of a thing and one to buy now and file away for later BUT as little white dresses go, this one right here is made from up-cycled, sustainable fabric and at £39.99, won’t cost the earth in more ways than one. J’adore. Coming soon from H&M. #ConsciousExclusive.

…oh and if you’re feeling brave, clogs really are A THING. Louise clogs, £159 by Swedish Hasbeens https://www.swedishhasbeens.com/shop_online/louise-94501

Fresh, clean skin, a hit of blush on the cheeks and mussed up hair by Lisa Valencia. Shown here the Cormac heavy cotton lace tank top, £250, Jigsaw A-Line. #comingsoon.

It’s the little things, and clever detailing elevates. Look for contrast trim on coats and jackets, double length cuffs with carefully chosen buttoning on sleeves. Double rings in thin slivers of gold are the elegant choice. Shown here, clothes Jigsaw A-Line, as before and rings, Laura Gravestock, as before.

We’re choosing to dub this make up look ‘the first flush of spring’.
